Our nursery is small and so all ages of children, from one to six years, regularly play together.? This is ideal as it mimics a family structure.?? To further enhance this we divide the children into groups called houses.?? These houses are named using family surnames for each group.??

Nowadays there are very few large families.?? Indeed we see more and more only-child families.?? It is for this reason that we try to reconstruct the family group.?? We never group the nursery school children into age-slices.?? They are always in a group, ie a house, with one older child in charge and there are never more than six children in these groups.?? In this way we give the children all the benefits of a large family during the day while they experience all the benefits of a small family at home.
